We're Kayla and Eric Widmeyer—a school psychologist and an educator, and parents of four children. Everpoint Education brings our professional experience and our perspective as parents together to support students, families, and school teams.
In our own family, the questions change with each stage of school. We think about friendships and classroom routines, homework and independence, and the decisions that come as college approaches. Working in education gives us useful knowledge. Being parents reminds us how personal those questions can feel.
Based in Branford, Connecticut, we provide psychoeducational evaluations and executive function coaching for families, along with support for school districts. Our purpose is simple: helping students find their best path forward.
Why We Started Everpoint Education
We both love education and working with students. As we thought about our future, we wanted more flexibility in how we worked and a way to bring our skills to families and school communities beyond our individual classrooms and schools. Everpoint grew out of those conversations.
We also saw an opportunity to share what we know about public education with families trying to understand why their child is struggling. Parents may have observations, questions, or an evaluation report in front of them and still be unsure what it means for their child's school day.
We created Everpoint to help connect those pieces: how a student learns, what is happening in the classroom, and which next steps are worth exploring. Our experience in schools shapes that work, along with our respect for the teachers and teams supporting students every day.

Meet Kayla Widmeyer, M.S., Ed.S.

I've always loved being around children. I started babysitting when I was young, and by college I knew I wanted a career that involved helping them. For a while, I thought that would mean becoming a family lawyer.
Then I learned about school psychology. An internship during my undergraduate years helped me realize that this was the work I wanted to do.
More than a decade into my career, evaluations remain one of my favorite parts of the work. I love starting with a question about a student's learning, working through the information, and turning what I learn into interventions families and school teams can actually use.
In my school-based work, I've seen how much translation can be needed between a private evaluation report done outside of the school setting report and a practical plan for the classroom. That experience shapes my approach: I want families to understand what the findings mean for their child's everyday learning.
I want parents to understand their child's strengths and needs, the distinction between a weakness and a disability, and the questions to discuss with their school team about eligibility and support. I also want families to understand all their options when a particular school service is not available or appropriate, and enter meetings with schools truly feeling like a contributing and fully informed team member. Providing private evaluations with my background in school psychology allows me to consider results and recommendations in the context of today's classrooms, special education landscape and eligibility requirements.
Meet Eric Widmeyer, M.S.

After more than two decades in education, one of my favorite moments is still seeing a concept click for a student; and the pride that comes with understanding something that used to feel difficult.
I've seen students make substantial academic progress and watched their confidence grow along with it. Those moments matter to me because they can change what a student believes they are capable of.
Building relationships is a big part of that work. I enjoy getting to know my students: who they are, what interests them, and where they need encouragement or a different way into a concept.
My background in mathematics, social studies, and instructional leadership gives me a classroom perspective to bring to Everpoint. I want to help students recognize their capabilities and take meaningful steps toward the opportunities that interest them.
A little about us outside of work
With four children, we value time to be active together, get outside, and enjoy each other's company. We also appreciate a chance to slow down, relax, and spend time together as a couple. Eric is an avid runner, has run several marathons and helped Kayla train for her first! We shared a milestone of running the Chicago Marathon together and continue to enjoy a slightly different pace, talking walks with our dog and scooter rides with our two youngest. We both enjoy reading, cold water swimming and traveling to see extended family.
Bringing it back to Everpoint, we both bring different strengths. Eric is the big-picture thinker, always coming up with ideas and seeing where they could lead. Kayla is the details person, turning those ideas into specific actions. We work through the possibilities together and shape them into something we can put into practice.
A conversation that starts with your questions. We want to understand what you are noticing, what is working, and what you hope to learn or change. You know your student best and we are here to get to the bottom of your concerns and bring peace to your worries.
